Aston Villa Files Complaint Over Disallowed Goal in Manchester United Defeat

Aston Villa has officially filed a complaint with the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) after a controversial refereeing decision in their final Premier League match against Manchester United.
The incident, which saw a potential equalizer by Morgan Rogers disallowed, played a crucial role in Villa missing out on Champions League qualification.
In the 73rd minute, Rogers scored after receiving a pass from Ollie Watkins however, referee Thomas Bramall blew the whistle early, ruling that Rogers had fouled United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. Since the whistle was blown before the ball crossed the goal line, VAR was unable to review the decision.
Manchester United went on to secure a 2-0 victory, with goals from Amad Diallo and Christian Eriksen.
The result left Villa in sixth place, missing out on Champions League qualification due to goal difference. This setback is estimated to cost the club around £75 million in potential revenue.
Aston Villa submitted a formal complaint, criticizing the officiating and questioning the referee selection for such an important game. The club called for reforms, including the appointment of international referees and former players in VAR roles, arguing that an apology from officials was not enough.
