Liverpool have completed the signing of German midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The 22-year-old playmaker has penned a long-term contract with the Reds after agreeing personal terms and successfully passing a medical.
Wirtz makes the switch to Anfield following a standout season in the Bundesliga, where he played a key role in Leverkusen's title-winning campaign under Xabi Alonso. Wirtz is currently regarded as one of the most promising young talents in Europe.
Speaking about the move, Wirtz expressed his excitement at the opportunity:

"I'm really excited to have a new adventure in front of me. Leaving the Bundesliga and coming to the Premier League is a big step, but it’s one I’ve been looking forward to. I've spoken to players who know the league well and they told me it’s the perfect environment to grow and enjoy football. I can't wait to get started and play my first game at Anfield." he said.
Wirtz becomes the latest addition to Arne Slot’s squad as the Dutchman begins shaping his team for the upcoming season. The midfielder also reunites with former Bayer Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, who joined Liverpool earlier in the window.
