Google Adds AI Mode to it's Search Engine

Google has introduced a major update to its search engine by adding a new feature called "AI Mode" which is powered by its chatbot, Gemini 2.5.
This update changes how users interact with Google Search, replacing the usual list of links with a more interactive, conversation-style experience.
The new AI Mode, launching this week for users in the United States, allows people to ask detailed questions and get complete, AI-generated answers directly within the search page.
Users will also be able ask follow-up questions in a chat-like format, making search feel more like talking to a real assistant.
AI Mode, Google is also bringing in a feature called “Search Live”, which offers real-time, interactive responses based on what users are viewing and another upcoming tool called “Deep Search,” will help users handle complex queries with better results.

While many users are excited about these new tools however some website owners and publishers are worried. Reports show that AI-generated answers have caused a 30% drop in clicks to websites, as users no longer need to visit external links to get information.
Google’s latest move comes as it faces tough competition from AI-powered platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT which offer similar chatbot search experiences.
