Mpuuga to Sue Bobi Wine, Ssewanyana Over Ssegirinya Arrest Allegations

Nyendo-Mukungwe Member of Parliament Mathias Mpuuga yesterday announced his intention to sue the National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, and Allan Ssewanyana who is a member of Parliament of Makindye West.
According to Mpuuga, Bobi Wine and Allan Ssewanayna accused him of being involved in the arrest of the late Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya who died earlier this year after suffering deteriorating health conditions.
The story unfolded a couple of days ago during a press conference that was held at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavule.
During the Presser, Bobi Wine told Allan Ssewanyana to speak freely about who was behind the arrests that involved both himself and the late Ssegirinya.
The arrest of both MP's were connected to the Masaka bijjambiya murders were 26 lives lost under unclear circumstances.
While responding to the party President and the Media, Ssewanyana said that Mpuuga, along with other leaders from the Masaka had a direct involvement in their imprisonment.
When all this landed into Mpuuga's ears, he strongly dismissed the accusations as politically motivated, baseless and with no substance. The Nyendo Member of Parliament went ahead and accused the Nup Paty President for tarnishing his image and undermining the opposition.
"These accusations are completely false and unfounded, I have, therefore, instructed my attorneys to file a suit in court, which will ultimately give Mr Kyagulanyi and Hon Ssewanyana an opportunity to tell the country and families of the Bijambiya victims what they know about those killings." Mpuuga told journalists.
Former Kawempe North MP Ssegirinya and current MP Makindye East Allan Ssewanyana were both arrested in 2021 and charged in connection with the Masaka Machette killings. Both were detained for over a year under harsh medical conditions, a factor that majority believe contributed to the death of Muhammed Ssegirinya.
The ongoing legal tensions have also been attached to the ongoing criminal proceedings that invloved Bobi Wine’s close ally, Edward Ssebufu a.k.a Eddie Mutwe who is currently battling charges of aggravated robbery and assault in Masaka.
Despite increasing pressure and threats to Bobi Wine and his personal security detail, he confirmed his intention to run against Yoweri Museveni once again who has been President for over four decades.
