NRM Leadership Meets to Enhance Party Organization Ahead of Elections

The Electoral Commission of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) convened a high-level strategy session that aimed at reinforcing the party's internal structures in preparation for the 2026 upcoming general elections.
The meeting was held at the NRM headquarters in Kampala and brought key party leaders to discuss grassroots mobilization, improved coordination between regional and national organs, and the streamlining of candidate selection processes.
Dr. Tanga Odoi, Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, emphasized that the party is taking deliberate steps to maintain its political dominance by promoting unity and efficiency within its ranks.
“We are committed to strengthening our systems to better serve our members and the people of Uganda. A united and well-structured NRM is crucial for fulfilling our mandate and winning the next election,” Tanga Odoi said.
NRM has been in power since 1986 under President Yoweri Museveni and now the party faces growing pressure from internal dissent and opposition parties most especially the National Unity Plarform led by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
The session also featured workshops focused on voter engagement, conflict management, and effective communication.
As the electoral season draws closer, the NRM's latest initiative signals its commitment to staying organized, connected, and ready to defend its position on Uganda’s political stage.
