President Museveni Announces Special NRM Grassroots Engagement on May 6th, 2025

President Yoweri K. Museveni, the Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has directed all party members across the country to return to their local areas on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, for two important activities.
In his statement, President Museveni called on NRM members to gather at 10 a.m. for a baraza, which will focus on verifying the names of members in the NRM village registers. After the verification, members will proceed to elect the NRM LC1 flag-bearer for chairmanship and also choose the local NRM leadership structures. Both activities are set to take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The President revealed that he would personally be in Rwakitura village, while Maama would be in Ntungamo to oversee the verification process in their respective areas. He emphasized that he would remain neutral in the chairmanship election.
“I will not endorse any candidate for the position. I trust the members to make their own decisions.” he said.
He also expressed that he would not be taking sides, encouraging freedom of choice among party members.
“I will however, not line behind any candidate for election because as chairman of the Nrm, i welcome any choiceof our members. I cannot and should not, therefore, teke sides“. he added.
Furthermore, President Museveni clarified that no cabinet meeting will be held on Monday, May 5th, 2025, and that in agreement with the Rt. Hon. Speaker, there will be no parliamentary session on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, to allow members to fully participate in these party activities.
