Shock and Sorrow as Uganda’s DJ Bush Baby Dies Suddenly

Uganda's entertainment industry is in deep mourning following the untimely death of Michael Benjamin Owor, famously known as DJ Bush Baby. The deejay, aged 50, was found dead in his studio in Entebbe on Thursday morning.
DJ Bush Baby was a towering figure in Uganda’s music evolution, particularly in the urban and hip-hop scenes. Rising to prominence in the late 1990s, he was among the first to popularize genres such as hip-hop, dancehall, and reggae on local airwaves.
At the time of this report, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. According to sources close to the family, he had been unreachable for several days before his body was discovered. Authorities have launched an investigation, but no official cause of death has been announced.
Bush Baby’s resilience was exemplified in 2020 when he survived a serious fall into an open manhole during the COVID-19 lockdown in Kampala. His remarkable recovery and return to the music scene further solidified his status as a true fighter.
