Tottenham Hotspur have officially booked their place in the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League by winning the 2024/25 UEFA Europa League. This means they will play in Europe’s top football competition next season, no matter where they finish in the Premier League standings.

Under their head coach Ange Postecoglou, Spurs beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final held in Bilbao, Spain and the only goal of the match was scored by Brennan Johnson in the 42nd minute which helped seal a historic win for the North London club.

This victory is especially meaningful for Tottenham and its fans as it ends the club’s 17-year trophy drought.

Despite struggling in the Premier League this season, where both Spurs and Manchester United are expected to finish in the bottom half of the table, the Europa League win ensures Spurs will be back among Europe’s elite clubs.

Adding to the excitement, the Premier League has earned an extra Champions League spot for the 2025/26 season. As a result, the top five teams in the Premier League will qualify alongside Tottenham bringing the total to six English clubs in the Champions League for the first time in history.

This path to Champions League qualification highlights how clubs can still reach Europe’s top stage through success in continental competitions, even if they struggle at home.

However, this raises questions about Tottenham's ability to handle the pressures of both the Champions League and Premier League next season, especially after recording 19 losses in their league campaign this season.

Tottenham Hotspur currently occupies the 17th position in the Premier League table, having accumulated 38 points from 37 matches, with just one game remaining in the season. This marks one of the club’s most challenging campaigns in recent years.
