18 Years Later: Paul Kafeero Remembered in Emotional Memorial Service

Today marks 18 years since the passing of legendary Afro-folk artist Paul Kafeero, who died on May 17, 2007, at 36 years old. In remembrance of his life and musical legacy, a memorial service was held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Makindye, Kampala.
The tribute was attended by fellow musicians, fans, friends, and public figures, including popular artist Bobi Wine, King Saha and many others who gathered to pay their respects to the man famously known as the "Golden Boy of Africa." The event highlighted Kafeero’s immense contribution to the Kadongo Kamu genre and the broader Ugandan music scene.
Kafeero’s storytelling through song, deeply rooted in Ugandan culture and social commentary, continues to influence both established and upcoming artists. His timeless music still resonates with audiences across generations.

The gathering served not only as a tribute but also as a reminder of the enduring power of authentic Ugandan music and the legacy Kafeero left behind.
