Bobi Wine Calls for Protests After SFC Raids NUP Headquarters

Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, has urged citizens to rise up in protest following a raid by the Special Forces Command (SFC) on the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters in Kavule.

The raid, which took place earlier today, follows the controversial detention of Bobi Wine’s chief bodyguard, Eddie Mutwe, by General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

“SFC soldiers have just raided and cordoned off our headquarters! Ugandans at home and abroad MUST rise up & protest against Museveni and his brutal son!” Bobi Wine wrote.

Mutwe was abducted on April 27 in Mukono, and Gen. Muhoozi’s social media posts mocking him and threatening Bobi Wine have sparked national and international condemnation.

The NUP has called the raid a blatant assault on democracy, and human rights groups are demanding accountability.

Bobi Wine’s call for protest has resonated widely, with increasing support from Ugandans both at home and abroad. Rights organizations have urged the global community to pressure the Ugandan government to release Mutwe and stop persecuting the opposition ahead of the 2026 elections.
