Rockstar Confirms GTA 6 Release Date Delayed to May 2026

Rockstar Games has officially delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) to May 2026, pushing it back from its originally expected late 2025 launch.
The announcement was made via Rockstar’s official website and social media channels, disappointing fans eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the iconic open-world series.
In its statement, Rockstar said the delay is necessary to ensure the game meets the studio’s high standards and the massive expectations of its global audience.
“To deliver a GTA 6 experience that exceeds player expectations, we need more time for polishing and fine-tuning,” the studio explained.
Originally teased in 2022 and unveiled in a trailer in December 2023, GTA 6 has encountered development challenges, including internal restructuring and pushback from employees following Rockstar's return-to-office policy in 2024.
The game is set in the fictional state of Leonida—based on Florida—and will feature multiple playable protagonists and a vast, dynamic open world.
