54,338 candidates were able to attain three principal passes which is the highest possible achievement, 37,985 passed with two principal passes, 29,233 with only one principal pass and17,750 with one subsidiary pass.

This therefore means that 98.8 per cent of the candidates passed the examinations compared to those in 2023 who were 99.2 per cent.

Mr Odong Dan noted that 92,274 of the candidates qualified to join universities because university admissions courses atleast require two principal passes as a minimu qualification.

'' If this requirement is maintained, 92,273 candidates qualify for university admission, compared to 80,816 in 2023. TRhis aligns with the significant increase in entries for the 2024 examination,'' said Odongo.

He later added that 11,457 university places must be made available to accomodate these candidates.
