In December 2022, Justin Bieber sold his music catalog comprising almost 300 songs to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for approximately $200 million.

A recent TMZ documentary dubbed 'What Happened to Justin Bieber'?, its said that the sale was caused by financial difficulties.

The documentary claims that despite the singer earning between $500 million and $1 billion over his career, he faced financial challenges when he Cancelled his Justice World Tour in 2022, which cost him around $90 million in potential earnings.

It's also said that the singer lived a lavish lifestyle and spent extravagantly on tour bus renovations, private jets, and cash purchases of luxury homes a factor which also contributed to his financial troubles.

However, Bieber's representatives refuted these claims and Labelled them baseless, clickbait stupidity based on unnamed and clearly ill-informed sources and later asserted that the Pop star remains financially secure.

The sale of Bieber's catalog aligns with a growing trend of artists capitalizing on their music rights for substantial upfront payments, as seen with musicians like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
