WCW Spotlight: Nadamba Joselyn Joy – The Young Queen Championing Girls' Voices in Uganda

At just a Senior Two student at Mengo Senior School - one of the oldest and most historically respected schools in Uganda, Nadamba Joselyn Joy is already living proof that young people can lead with purpose.
As the reigning Little Miss Uganda Central 2024/25, Joselyn stands as a proud representative of the young girls in the Central Region of Buganda, and today, she takes center stage as Mak Eyee’s Woman Crush Wednesday.
From a very young age, Joy dreamed of wearing a crown, not just for beauty and prestige, but to serve, to lead, and to raise her voice for those who are often unheard. That dream led her to the Miss Uganda pageant in 2023/24, where she competed with determination.

Despite felling short of the title, she never gave up. With renewed strength and focus, she made a second run in 2024/25, where her consistency and perseverance paid off, earning her the crown of Little Miss Uganda Central.
But Nadamba is not your ordinary pageant queen. Her reign is rooted in advocacy, especially around two of Uganda’s most pressing and persistent challenges: menstrual health stigma and early teenage pregnancy. These issues continue to affect thousands of girls, particularly in underserved communities where access to reproductive health education and support is limited. Nadamba has made it her mission to become a voice by pushing for access to sanitary products, and helping girls stay in school.

Joselyn Joy also serves as a member of the Children Reference Group (CRG) of Kampala. The CRG operates under the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, with support from UNICEF Uganda, and brings together child leaders to influence policy decisions affecting the youth. In this national platform, Nadamba represents the education sector, advocating for better access to quality education for every child in the Central Region and beyond.
Mengo Senior School, where she studies, has a long legacy of nurturing leadership, excellence, and national service and Nadamba Joy is walking boldly in that tradition.

Looking ahead, Nadamba has her eyes set on the Miss Uganda national title, a crown she believes will give her an even bigger voice to advocate for change.
The Eyee celebrates Nadamba Joselyn Joy not just for the crown she wears, but for the purpose she carries. Her voice, vision, and determination remind us that real queens serve, inspire, and lead.
